Awards & Recognition

At Zenku Kai we like to reward our younger members for their hard work, commitment and determination. We provide constant incentives to keep them striving for improvement in the Dojo, at home and at school. Our awards include Student of the Year, Attendance Awards and various awards following belt tests. We also offer class awards on a weekly basis which encourages consistent improvement.

Education in Martial Arts

Personal improvement at Zenku Kai does not stop once your child leaves the Dojo.

We are strong believers in helping your child develop through our various educational programmes

The Children's University Programme

The Children's University Programme is run in association with the local Council and offers children aged 5-14 years the chance to earn nationally recognised awards through the Children's University Certification Scheme, based on activities they complete outside of normal school hours.

Recognising and rewarding participation

Children's University students use Passports To Learning in which they record the number of hours of completed CU validated learning activities. Children are encouraged to progress through the CU Certification scheme, based on the number of hours of attendance throughout their involvement with the Children's University. bronze, silver and gold certificates are awarded at CU Undergraduate, CU Postgraduate and CU Doctorate levels. The certificates are usually presented at a graduation ceremony organised through the local Children's University

Students can register for the Children's University Programme once they have become Zenku Kai members. Once you and your child are ready to sign up to the Children's University programme simply advise the class Instructor and we will be happy to help you.

ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE)

ASDAN is a pioneering curriculum development organisation and awarding body, offering programmes and qualifications that explicitly grow skills for learning, skills for employment and skills for life.

At Zenku Kai we have qualified ASDAN assessors/Martial Arts Assessors and Coordinators which enables students to undertake CoPE alongside their martial arts training

Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE)

CoPE provides a framework for the development, assessment and accreditation of generic and wider key skills and wider activities, through a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3. The qualification offers imaginative ways of accrediting young people’s activities. It promotes, and allows centres to record, a wide range of personal qualities, abilities and achievements of young people, as well as introducing them to new activities and challenges

Eligibility & Award

CoPE Level 3 is primarily intended for students in post-16 education and offers an ideal solution to the accreditation of the wider activities frequently undertaken as a central part of the post-16 experience. It can also be used with younger Gifted and Talented groups.

CoPE at Level 3 has recognition from UCAS and is worth 70 UCAS points (comparable to an A grade at AS Level).

These educational opportunities are optional to students. Please contact the class Instructor for more information
